SCOUT is a regionally focused landscape architecture firm based in Knoxville, Tennessee. Landscape is our medium for improving communities – and we believe it’s powerful. Our work is based in curiosity, always aiming to consider big questions around climate, resilience, equity, mobility, livability, and our relationship with nature. As designers, we aspire to respond to these issues in tangible ways.
The Southeast is our home and our inspiration. It is a region of remarkable contrasts: mountains and coastlines, forests and plains, rural towns and bustling cities. Our work aims to celebrate and exemplify the diverse materials, histories and cultures specific to Southeast America.

Founding PartnerCaroline Lezon, PLA, ASLA
Caroline is a landscape architect and founding partner of SCOUT. She believes that meaningful connection with the natural world enriches our lives and is passionate about creating those connections for all people and communities. Caroline grew up in Knoxville and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, followed by a Master of Landscape Architecture. Prior to SCOUT, she worked as a landscape architect at nationally recognized and award-winning practices based in Boston and Knoxville. Her experience encompasses a diverse range of project scales, from destination urban parks to intimate residential gardens. Caroline’s work has been recognized by the Boston Society of Landscape Architects, the national and East Tennessee chapters of the AIA, and the ULI. She serves as Advocacy Chair for TN ASLA and as a board member of the Mabry-Hazen House and Arboretum.
